Mzansi For Shoorrrre!

13 Jun

This post is for all my friends and family overseas who do not have the opportunity to be in our beautiful country as we welcome the world and show them (or, ShowDem, if you will) what is means to be South African. There are a few adverts on tv at the moment that are guaranteed to pump up your national pride and remind us all how great it is to be South African.

Of course, there is the Wimpy Breakfast one, which has to have you smiling (even while you’re rolling your eyes in embarrassment). Because, let’s face it, only a true-blue Saffa will understand it!

Wimpi! uLekker breakfast!
Bacon, boerie and eggs over easy!
Wimpi! uTasty breakfast!
This one’s not for laaities or for sissies!
Wimpi! Let’s graze my china!
Benni and Dewald are flippen hungry!
Wimpi! Blah blah blah blah blah!
Choon your mates bokkies and your auntie!
Kiefness!

Can you Diski? Football in SA… Rhythm like you’ve never seen it before!

MTN – doing the Ayoba thing… The world is most definitely in our backyard, and we couldn’t be prouder!

And, of course, Castle coming to the party in the way that only they do so well… it gives me goosbumps everytime. This one says everything about what it means to be South African at this special time.

To the rest of the world: Welcome to our home. Bru.

My favourite ads too. We do make wonderful ads in South Africa for sure. I could not get the Wimpy song out of my head for ages.
