T minus O days

2 Apr

The “world’s most beautiful marathon” is here. Tomorrow Dave will pull on his running shoes and run his way through the peninsula. All 56km of it. The mind boggles. Today Adam ran 1/1000th of that route.

This morning we went off to get Dave registered for the 56km and to get Adam involved in the spirit of it all, we registered him for the 56m Nappy Dash (for kids 3 and under). He was very excited to be “running a race” like Daddy. He even got his own Race Number. All very official like.

We got him all hydrated on the kiddies Energade. Dave had him doing mock warm-ups and stretches. Then they all lined up, a mere 56m from the official finish line of tomorrow’s marathon:

Don’t they all look cute – behind the starting tape:

Here are the boys waiting for the starting gun. Note Cheetah along for moral support. Although, as I am regularly reminded, “cheetah is a GIRL” – so make that two guys and a girl:

And my boy – running with wild excitement for the finish line:

And he knows the drill by now… GOODIE BAGS!! Look at the Running Bear he got (it has “56m” embroidered on its back).

And, of course, THE MEDAL!!

Let’s hope Dad looks this happy after his 56km tomorrow… 🙂

Here is my favourite photo of the day. Perched on the steps  at UCT with cheetah and the mountain behind.
